Three separate bars on one street: Bar Blend, Blend XL and Montmartre XL
Bar Blend is a group of three separate LGBTQIA+ bars on Reguliersdwarsstraat in the centre of Amsterdam: Bar Blend (no. 41), a small cocktail bar that shares the group’s name; Blend XL (no. 44), a bar and club with a dance floor; and Montmartre XL (no. 48), a Dutch sing-along café that continues Café Montmartre. The first bar opened in July 2019.
Bar Blend is the name of a group of three LGBTQIA+ bars on Reguliersdwarsstraat in central Amsterdam, and also the name of the group’s first bar, at number 41. Blend XL (number 44) and Montmartre XL (number 48) are separate venues, each with its own door, its own opening hours and its own kind of night.

Bar Blend is a small LGBTQIA+ cocktail bar at Reguliersdwarsstraat 41 in central Amsterdam, open since July 2019. It is the first of the three Bar Blend bars and the only one that shares the group’s name; Blend XL (no. 44) and Montmartre XL (no. 48) are separate venues on the same street. Music videos on the screens, DJs and drag queens at the weekend.

Montmartre XL

Montmartre XL is a Dutch sing-along café and LGBTQIA+ bar at Reguliersdwarsstraat 48 in central Amsterdam. Since 2026 it has continued the legendary gay café Café Montmartre in a new location, and it is part of Bar Blend, alongside Bar Blend (no. 41) and Blend XL (no. 44). Sing-alongs, Dutch hits, Eurovision, disco and the 80s and 90s.

Chapter 02 · The difference
Which bar suits your night?
- Bar Blend (no. 41): A small, intimate bar, and the only one of the three that opens in the afternoon.
- Blend XL (no. 44): The club of the three: DJs, shows and a dance floor, open Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
- Montmartre XL (no. 48): The sing-along café of the three, carrying the history of Café Montmartre.
To dance, go to Blend XL. To sing along, go to Montmartre XL. To start early, or for a night of drag in a small bar, go to Bar Blend. The three are a few doors apart, so it is a one-minute walk from one to the next.
Chapter 03 · The street
All three on Reguliersdwarsstraat
Reguliersdwarsstraat is in the centre of Amsterdam, between Koningsplein and Rembrandtplein, close to the Flower Market and Muntplein. It is one of the best-known LGBTQIA+ nightlife streets in the city. Trams 4, 14 and 24 stop at Muntplein, a few minutes’ walk away.

Frequently asked questions
Is Bar Blend the same as Blend XL?
No. Bar Blend (Reguliersdwarsstraat 41) and Blend XL (Reguliersdwarsstraat 44) are two separate venues of the same group, on opposite sides of the same street. Bar Blend is a small cocktail bar; Blend XL is a bar and club with a dance floor.
Why are the group and one of the bars both called Bar Blend?
Bar Blend started in July 2019 with a single bar at number 41. Blend XL and Montmartre XL came later, and the group kept the name of that first bar. So Bar Blend can mean the group or the bar at number 41.
Which bar has a dance floor?
Blend XL is the place to dance: a bar and club with a dance floor, DJs and shows. People dance at Montmartre XL too, mostly to sing-alongs. Bar Blend is a small bar with DJs at the weekend.
